21st Century Learning Design

Since its incorporation into the Australian National Curriculum, demand for 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD) is growing fast. The problem is, very few teachers know how to design lessons that put it to proper, practical use!

ELH’s 21CLD program is designed to help you discover the ‘whys’ and ‘how’s’ of implementing 21st Century Learning in your school, putting you at the forefront of an exciting new era of ICT.

It will hugely challenge staff thinking, and at the same time give practical processes to view your planning for learning, and forward your students in their 21st Century skills and learning.

Over two days you’ll work with other teachers in a collaborative and supportive environment to understand:

The global research that proves the success of 21CLD and how to create a compelling case for implementing it in your school
How 21CLD links in with the Australian National Curriculum
The 6 skill-sets today’s students will need in the workplace and their future lives
The innovative rubrics for measuring use of these skills in classroom and project work
How to code and redesign your own curriculum
An online group forum 6 weeks later will give you the chance to share your successes and discuss any roadblocks
you may have encountered along the way

Why 21st Century Learning Design?

A 1-hour online meeting held 1 week prior to the course that discusses what to expect from and bring to the program, and overviews recent research that supports 21CLD

Day 1

In a supportive and collaborative environment, you’ll explore the global research proving the success of 21CLD and how to create a compelling case for implementing it in your school. With an emphasis on self-regulation, you’ll discover ways in which to foster a culture of knowledge collaboration through real-world problem solving and innovation.

Day 2

What is the role of ICT in modern learning environments? On your second day you’ll explore how 21CLD links in with the Australian National Curriculum, the importance of skillful communication amongst the 6 skills today’s students will need to succeed in the workplace and future lives, and the innovative rubrics for measuring these skills as they are used collaboratively in the classroom, and independently in project work.

As a final exercise, you’ll put theory into practice, and learn how to code and redesign your own unit plans so you can get started implementing 21CLD upon your return to school.

Online follow-up meeting

1.5 hours, 6 weeks after the course Reflection on 21C LD Implementation
An online session for participants to get back together to celebrate their successes and discuss any challenges encountered within a supportive group
